Sensors development
Anglais
The Laboratory performs mechanical measurements over a wide range of CERN components and devices. The measurements are carried out in a broad variety of environments, including cryogenic and high temperatures, high radiation environment and high magnetic fields. Such critical operation conditions imposes the development of custom made sensors as well as procedures for calibration.
Some examples of custom made sensors developed in the laboratory can be found :
Development of sensors to measure the sliding force and stroke of the LHC RF contact Plug In Modules at 1.9 K and in UHV | CuBe Beam displacement sensor technology based on the deformation measurement of a thin CuBe plate, which is fixed on one side and in contact against the surface with a pin on the other. |
